High Force Research Case Study

Published: 24 January 2023

Over the last 8 months, ten employees of High Force Research, including Team Leaders, aspiring Team Leaders, and Training Mentors, have undertaken bespoke Leadership & Management Training.

High Force Research is an independent CRO/ CDMO with the ability to address a wide range of chemistry requirements across multiple industries.

They specialise in supporting projects from early-stage discovery through; route design and selection, process development, optimisation, scale-up and manufacture.

In partnership with MTC Training, as part of the North East Workforce Skills Programme, we designed especially the Bespoke Management & Leadership Training for High Force Research to suit their business needs.

The training includes the following sessions:

  • Self-awareness and Management of self
  • Leading People
  • Managing People
  • Building Relationships and Communicating
  • Communication
  • Operational Management
  • Finance and Decision-Making
  • Project Management

The training has been partly funded by High Force Research and utilising ESF funding available through the skills programme.

”The training not only gave a broad knowledge of leadership and management theories and examples, I personally found it to be a good inter-departmental team building opportunity for HFR,” shared by Craig McNairs

”I didn’t have too many expectations going into this course as I had never completed anything like this before. The course was excellent and taught me a wide range of concepts that I was unaware of before. It was especially valuable to go through this course with colleagues from across HFR so we could learn about each other’s roles and the individual practical examples that we each brought to the sessions,” shared by Ruth Daniels

”I think as a result of that course I am more aware of the power of feedback and how important that easy not only for the company itself but also for individuals, and how to provide the feedback and/or receive it and use it. The self-awareness session allowed me to recognize my own weaknesses and strengths and be just ‘more aware’ or myself,” shared by Alex Hudson

Having got a taste for the learning experience, the ‘graduates’ are progressing onto the CMI Level 5 Certificate in Management & Leadership.

It’s our pleasure to continue to work with High Force Research over the coming year to deliver training and development opportunities for their staff, equip their team with new skills, and enhance the workforce capabilities.
