Upendra Pundlik Jawale
Senior Security Assistant at University of Sunderland
As a Senior Security Assistant at University of Sunderland, I help ensure the safety and security of students, staff and University property. My responsibilities include monitoring campus security systems, conducting foot patrols and responding to incidents. I also enforce University policies, liaise with the police when necessary, and contribute to maintaining a secure and welcoming environment for all.
I chose the Cyber Security Analyst course to enhance my knowledge of digital security. With increasing reliance on digital technology, I wanted to develop my skills in cyber security to better respond to cyber threats and contribute more effectively and efficiently within my role.
The course has helped to develop a deeper understanding of digital threats, risk management, and incident response, which I can apply immediately in my role. I have learned how to identify potential cyber security risks within the University, report vulnerabilities more effectively, support the implementation of security policies, and collaborate with IT teams to enhance overall safety. This knowledge has also helped me to bridge the gap between physical and cyber security, ensuring a more comprehensive approach to protecting university assets and data.
I have since had opportunities to take on more cybersecurity focused responsibilities within my current role and which has enabled me to potentially advance into roles such as Cyber Security Analyst or Security Operations Specialist in the future.
My experience with MTC training has been excellent. The course was well-structured, informative and delivered in a way that was easy to understand. The trainer was knowledgeable, well experienced and supportive – providing real-word examples that made the learning process engaging. The hands-on approach helped me develop practical skills that I can apply directly to my role. Overall, it has been a valuable learning experience that has enhanced my cybersecurity knowledge and career prospects.
