Business Administration and Digital Marketing Apprentice

Description of Duties

Main tasks:
• Digital marketing - social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), updating websites, emailing marketing
• Marketing communications – menus, flyers, adverts, brochures
• PR - writing press releases and blogs, liaising with journalists to secure coverage

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Implement the social media strategy for the company’s sites, manage social media campaigns and day-to-day activities.
• Manage presence in social networking sites including Facebook, Twitter, Linked-In and other similar community sites, posting and updating content as needed
• Engage in dialogues on social media platforms, answering customer questions where appropriate
• Monitor effective benchmarks for measuring the impact of social media efforts and analyse, review, and report on effectiveness of campaigns to ensure results-driven focus
• Monitor trends in social media tools and applications

You will also assist the marketing manager and team in various other marketing tasks, including:
• Aiding the production of marketing materials, including leaflets, posters, flyers, e-newsletters, and arranging their effective distribution
• Writing and proofreading copy;
• Updating and maintaining websites via CMS
• Liaising with external supplier such as designers and printers
• Maintaining and updating customer databases
• Contributing to marketing plans and strategies
• Evaluating marketing campaigns
• Monitoring competitor activity

Skills Required

Essential criteria:
• A degree in a relevant discipline or a marketing student or business student with a marketing emphasis
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms (Facebook, You Tube, Twitter etc.) and how they can be used in different business scenarios
• A good understanding of WordPress
• Basic knowledge of design tools including InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
• A good understanding of marketing principles, particularly in a digital context
• Natural flair for producing compelling content and writing copy for social media, web and marketing communications
• Excellent time management skills and an ability to prioritise tasks and work to deadline.

Desirable criteria:
• Have a good knowledge of principles of SEO
• A keen interest in food and drink
• Good knowledge of north-east leisure market – bars, restaurant & hotels
• Good knowledge of current and upcoming food and drink trends
• Experience in a social media or marketing role
• A good eye for photography, though no professional qualification or equipment required.
